After Effects

Here are some tests for a couple of the effects I'll be using for Glitch.

1st off - thanks to a tutorial that Kieran Duncan showed me on www.videocopilot.net I was able to create this swirling mass of energy in After Effects, which I intend to use as a projectile for Ailich's gun-arm.

Here is that same swirling mass being used as said projectile.

Also, I had a shot at making a computer HUD.  It's pretty basic just now but since I hadn't really used After Effects properly before, this was a nice easy thing to make to bring me up to scratch, however, I do intend to make it a bit more complex and convincing for the final thing.

HICRU Maya Model (At last...)

I know I promised it a while back but here it is finally!
He isn't finished being modelled yet; he's meant to be a robot of some sort so now I need to go back and sculpt panels and other robotic details.
However, I'm extremely happy with the progress so far so he's some shots of him in low-poly and some 'show off' high-poly shots.

Ailich Re-Modelled

Ended up re-modelling Ailich due to poor topology and multiple other problems.
Below are some low poly snaps.

New direction.

Whilst at work, I've had plenty of opportunity to play Super Street Fighter IV on my phone and I've seen this cut-scene so many times now.  I really love the style of it; sort of a 3D animated action comic book.  It's kind of what I'm after with Glitch.  Hopefully within the next week or so I'll have an updated storyboard and animatic up that leans much more towards an action-y, comic book feel.  Until then...

A.I.L.I.C.H 3D model snaps (unfinished)

Since I've not posted anything in a while I thought I'd give a quick update of what I've been up to... =)

I've been working on the model for A.I.L.I.C.H and made some nice progress I think.  I'm not 100% happy so there's still some vertex's that need tweaking.  However, trying to rig her has revealed that I've forgotten everything about that so I have been learning again from scratch.  I'm having some troubles but nothing major... just her legs bending as if she has rickets... As a result, I've started modelling H.I.C.R.U instead but haven't gotten very far so don't want to show just yet.

Here's some quick snaps of her so far.

I've been thinking about giving the characters some small items of clothing, just so they aren't so boring to look at at also to hopefully give them a more 'video game' feel.  More on this later.

On another note, I've started changes on the script and storyboard too.  Nothing too major, just some story modifications that should hopefully give the characters more for the audience to connect with emotionally and some alternative camera shots to give the whole thing a more 'cinematic' feel.

Final Environment

I decided not to go for the Colosseum idea for the fight arena and kept it in theme with the animation.
I've gone for a minimalistic 'fight dome' concept and kept the exterior very blank and basic.

3 reasons for this:
1- The exterior would be almost blank since the whole thing is meant to be a simulation by a computer and the fight was never meant to breach the arena into un-constructed virtual space.
2- If I am to model the majority of this by myself, I might as well make up plot devices to make this easier for me ;-)
3- The electrified dome feels like it would fit with the whole omni-powerful computer and cyborg characters.
