Final Film
So 4 years have passed, the degree show is over, I'm no longer a student and now unemployed.
For those that didn't get a chance to see it or if you did but want to see it again, here it is!
My Degree Show film - Glitch.
Enjoy.

Final Film...
To all you lovely people who picked up one of my postcards - Thank you very much and thank you for checking out the blog!
This is just a quick post to let you all know that I'll be posting the final version of Glitch here on the last day of the Degree Show (
http://www.dundee.ac.uk/djcad/degreeshow/studentsexhibiting/animation/spencerhill/ ). So, if you came here hoping to see it again I appreciate the interest but you'll have to wait a few days unless you head back to see it again on the big screen. =)
Take care!

Glitch Showreel
Here's the showreel for Glitch. This is not the showreel I'll be using to hopefully get a job, just the one that'll be shown alongside the animation at the Degree Show.

Thank you very much to Tara ( http://sketchycheetah.blogspot.co.uk/ ) who made this awesome soundtrack to accompany Glitch. =D

Poster Design
Here's the poster design for Glitch.
I did originally make a Tron rip off design but it looked ridiculous so you don't get to see it.

Colour/Texture Update.
To keep your eyes entertained, whilst I endure the last 2 weeks of dissertating, here are some shots to show how everything currently looks. Any questions and/or feedback are/is, as always, greatly appreciated.
(Inside Dome)
(I dunno why his armour looks like this in this clip...)
I've been trying to create a nice looking tornado of fire recently but this is as far as I got before giving up. Any ideas on how to further this?

Rigger needed.
Does anybody who has confidence in their rigging want to give these 2 characters a shot?
These poor models are still boneless and need your help while I'm dissertating and texturing, etc, etc.
If not you then pass the word on :)
Get in contact for more info, on here or facebook, etc if I'm not around the studio.

Colour Advice?
Right! I need your opinions and advice guys.
I've spent today colouring and recolouring my 2 main characters and I've made some progress but I just can't decide on the actual colours themselves... I want it all to tie in nicely with the environment but not so much since they are meant to be alien to it. Also, since nothing so far has kept 100% to the original designs, I'm getting slightly concerned it might all end up looking a bit mis-match.
Here are a couple of shots to give an idea. There's no textures or details yet - just materials and colours.
This isn't a choice between the 2 pictures. The colours can be changed completely. I just need some other folks views. =)
Cheers x
Getting there... =)

Environment Fly-around
Here's a better view of the structure posted below.
And a quick colour check with an unfinished Ailich to see if the characters and the environment match.
Environment Screenshots
I've realised I've not posted much about the environment recently so here's a couple of snapshots of it currently.
It's getting there. =)

Final Character Models
At last, here are the final character models. They have changed somewhat since their original design; there are a few reasons for this:
Ailich looked too much like just a robot and I wanted a more human appearance whilst keeping the cyborg look so I swapped the all over body panels for what you see here.
I would've liked to keep Hicru with the all over body panels but it was proving time consuming and hassle-some to make them, also I think they might of interfered with some of the movements he'll be doing in the film. Instead, he now has fewer panels and some alternate details.
The Anti-Virus has been changed from an over-whelming horde to a single, larger boss-like creature. This is because animating masses of creatures to simulate a horde was going to be far too much work, for me and the computer.
So here you go, as usual - let me know what you think please! =)

More inspiration =)
I found this on http://cgeverything.co.uk
It's only an advert for a new anti-virus but I love the Tron / i-robot feel it has!
Watching this made me want to do a similar spin-off short for the anti-virus in 'Glitch', (whose model shall be posted on here, along with the final models for Hicru, Ailich and the environment, later this morning). However, for now, I'm going to bed. Enjoy!

After Effects
Here are some tests for a couple of the effects I'll be using for Glitch.
1st off - thanks to a tutorial that Kieran Duncan showed me on www.videocopilot.net I was able to create this swirling mass of energy in After Effects, which I intend to use as a projectile for Ailich's gun-arm.
Here is that same swirling mass being used as said projectile.
Also, I had a shot at making a computer HUD. It's pretty basic just now but since I hadn't really used After Effects properly before, this was a nice easy thing to make to bring me up to scratch, however, I do intend to make it a bit more complex and convincing for the final thing.
